Drive Range-4TH Gear

As vehicle speed increases in third gear governor pressure moves the 3-4 shift valve to the right against the combined forces of throttle valve pressure and the 3-4 throttle valve spring, and oil pressure is applied to the fourth clutch. In this condition, the second, third and fourth clutches are applied.

The drive link, input housing and second clutch drive the input carrier, and the input sun gear is held stationary by the fourth clutch. The third clutch, while still applied, is not effective, and the third roller clutch is overrunning as the input pinions, rotating on their pins around the stationary sun gear, drive the input internal gear. Power is transmitted to the final drive from the input internal gear at an overdrive ratio of .70:1.
