Neutral/Park- Engine Running

In both Neutral and Park positions, the input clutch is applied and all other clutches and bands are released. The input sprag drives the input sun gear in the normal, counterclockwise direction and as vehicle weight holds the reaction carrier/input gear, the reaction sun gear is rotated in a clockwise direction. Since no other reaction members are being held in this range, no power is transmitted to the final drive. In addition, when in Park position, the output shaft is held by a locking pawl which prevents the vehicle from rolling either forward or backward.
