Clutch: Testing and Inspection

1. While observing clutch slave cylinder push rod travel, have an assistant depress clutch pedal.

2. On models except Celebrity and 6000:

a. If slave cylinder push rod moves 0.433 inch or more, hydraulic system is operating properly.

b. If slave cylinder push rod did not move 0.43 inch, check clutch master cylinder fluid level and add fluid as necessary.

c. If master cylinder requires fluid, check hydraulic system components for leakage. Remove rubber boots from cylinders and check for leakage past pistons. A slight wetting of piston and wall surfaces is acceptable.

d. If excessive leakage is indicated, entire hydraulic system must be replaced.

3. On Celebrity and 6000 models:

a. If slave cylinder push rod moves 0.374 inch or more, hydraulic system is operating properly.

b. If slave cylinder push rod did not move 0.374 inch, check clutch master cylinder fluid level and add fluid as necessary.
