HM-282 and 5TM40

Description:

The Hydra-Matic 5TM40 (HM-282) and NVT550 five speed manual transaxles are constant mesh design transaxles. All forward gears, reverse gear and differential output are combined in the assemblies. Selection and shifting is accomplished b a combination of synchronizers with blocker rings controlled by sliding rail shift forks. Reverse gear is not synchronized with the idler gear supported on a sliding spindle idler shaft.
