Theft Deterrent Label Description

Theft Deterrent Label:

Attached to the doors are Theft Deterrent Labels which have the car Vehicle Identification Number printed on it.

The purpose of the label is to reduce the cases of motor vehicle thefts by helping in the tracing and recovery of parts from stolen vehicles.

The label will be permanently affixed to the part and will contain the complete VIN. The label on replacement parts will contain the letter R, the manufacturers logo, and the symbol "DOT".

^ THESE LABELS ARE NOT TO BE DEFACED, REMOVED, OR COVERED OVER. The labels must be shielded from paint, anti-corrosion treatment, and undercoating. The mask must be removed following the above procedure's Failure to keep the label clean and readable may result in liability for violation of Federal Vehicle Theft Prevention Standard, and subject the vehicle owner to possible suspicion that the part was stolen.
