CORP.REF.NO: 001606R
DATE: March 1991
SECTION: 8C
SUBJECT: FUSE PANEL OPENS ON BUMPS OR WITH PARK BRAKE RELEASE - REPOSITION THE FUSE BLOCK
MODELS/YEARS: 1991 NINETY-EIGHT
CONDITION:
Some comments have been received of the fuse panel falling open on bumps and in some cases, as the park brake release handle is actuated.
CORRECTION:
1. Lower the fuse block by pinching the release tabs.
2. Locate the fuse block retention stud. See the illustration below. The stud can be seen looking upward through the opening that the fuse block normally occupies when in the closed position.
3. Using a 10 mm socket, loosen the nut which secures the fuse block bracket to the stud. With the nut loosened, push the entire fuse block bracket as far forward as possible. Hold the bracket in the forward position and tighten the nut 8-11 N-m (10-14 lbs.in.). If necessary, reattach the fuse block retainer to the bracket by snapping the retainer over the ears of the bracket. Return the fuse block to the closed position.
