HIGH REAR COMPARTMENT CLOSING EFFORTS - ADJUST LOCK ASSEMBLY AND/OR REPLACE WEATHERSTRIP

MODELS/YEARS:
1992 ACHIEVA

CONDITION:
Some 1992 Achieva's (Coupes & Sedan) may exhibit a condition of high rear compartment closing effort.

CAUSE:
Misalignment of lock assembly to striker and/or high oompression forces of weatherstrip.

CORRECTION:
1. Adjust lock assembly to striker.
2. If excessive closing forces exist, replace rear compartment weatherstrip with P/N 22587373 which is currently available from GMSPO.
3. Readjust lock assembly to striker if required. Efforts will decrease approximately 25 percent after rear compartment lid is closed for 24 hours.
