Troubleshooting Hints
Try the following checks before doing the System Diagnosis1. Check the hydrometer eye that is built into the vehicle's Battery before troubleshooting the Starter System.
^ Green eye - Battery is charged.
^ Dark eye - Battery is discharged. Recharge Battery.
^ Clear or yellow eye - Battery fluid is low. Replace Battery
2. Check that the Starter Solenoid Assembly terminals S and B and Battery connections are clean and tight.
3. Check that grounds G107 and G106 are clean and tight.
4. Check the Generator belt.
5. Check that the Generator connector and Generator Battery terminal are clean and tight.
6. Check that the Battery connections are clean and tight.
7. Check the vehicle Voltmeter (if equipped) to assure accurate voltage readings.
8. Check GAGES Fuse if the Charge Indicator does not light with the Ignition Switch in RUN and the engine stopped.
