Throttle Body Assembly

PURPOSE
The purpose of the throttle body assembly is to control air and fuel flow into the engine.

The throttle body assembly also provides the location for mounting of the tube module assembly and the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).


OPERATION
The throttle valve within the throttle body is opened by the driver through the accelerator controls. During engine idle, the throttle valve is closed, and air flow is handled by the Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve.


The TBI unit consists of two major assemblies:
^ Fuel meter body, which contains fuel injector and fuel pressure regulator.
^ Throttle body containing throttle valve, idle air control valve, throttle position sensor and the tube module assembly.
