System Differences - Passkey / Passkey II Systems
Basic operations of PASSkey(R) and PASSkey(R) II systems are very much alike; however there are some basic differences.LOCKOUT TIMER
PASSKEY
^ Set to about two minutes after ignition key with incorrect pellet is used and ignition is cycled "OFF".
^ Further attempts to start engine will reset timer.
^ Security lamp is not lit while lockout timer is on.
PASSKEY II
^ Set to about three minutes as soon as ignition is turned "ON" with an incorrect pellet.
^ Further attempts to start engine will not reset timer until it has timed out.
^ Security lamp is lit while lockout timer is on.
SECURITY INDICATOR LAMP
PASSKEY
^ "ON" continuously if there is an open or short in the system and the decoder module is unprogrammed.
^ Stays "ON" continuously until the next ignition cycle once a new module has been successfully programmed.
^ Does not light at all if there is an open or short in the system and the decoder module is already programmed.
^ Lights only when ignition is "ON" during lockout.
^ Lights for about two seconds as a bulb check when the ignition is turned "ON" during normal system operation.
PASSKEY II
^ Flashes about once per second if there is an open or short in the system or the decoder module is unprogrammed.
^ Lights for five seconds and then goes out once a new module has been successfully programmed.
^ Flashes about once per second if there is an open or short in the system and the decoder module is already programmed.
^ Stays lit during lockout.
^ Lights for about five seconds as a bulb check when the ignition is turned to "ON" during normal system operation.
SYSTEM SELF DIAGNOSTICS
PASSKEY
^ None.
PASSKEY II
^ Monitors key input circuit while engine is running and lights the security lamp if a failure (open or short) is detected for more than one minute.
IGNITION POWER
PASSKEY
^ Has no dual purpose.
PASSKEY II
^ Ignition voltage powers decoder module if battery voltage is lost.
