Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair


Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING prior to working on or near the steering column. After completion of repairs, rearm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove center trim plate, Fig. 26.
3. Remove three cluster trim plate attaching screws, then the cluster trim plate, Fig. 27.
4. Remove five instrument cluster retaining screws, then disconnect shift indicator cable, if equipped.
5. Disconnect cluster electrical connectors.
6. Remove cluster assembly.
7. Reverse procedure to install.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove cluster trim plate to instrument panel attaching screws, Fig. 28.
3. Tilt trim plate rearward and disconnect driver information display and defogger/heated windshield connectors.
4. Remove cluster trim plate, then cluster to instrument panel attaching screws, Fig. 29.
5. Pull cluster rearward, then disconnect cluster electrical connector and PRNDL cable.
6. Remove cluster assembly.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
