Rear Window Defogger
With the Ignition Switch in RUN, voltage is applied to the Rear Defogger Time-Relay and the DIC Switch Assembly. When the Rear Defogger Control Switch is depressed, a momentary ground path is provided for the Timer-Relay. The Timer-Relay then feeds back a ground path to the DIC Switch Assembly, lighting the System ON LED. The Timer-Relay also closes its relay contact and provides voltage to the Rear Defogger and the LH Heated Mirror (if equipped). The rear window and the LH Mirror become warm to remove condensation from the surface of the glass. The first time the Rear Defogger Control Switch is pressed, the Rear Defogger Timer-Relay allows the Rear Defogger and LH Heated mirror (if equipped) to operate for approximately 10 minutes. Each time the Rear Defogger Control Switch is pressed thereafter, the Rear Defogger Timer-Relay resets to operate for approximately 5 minutes. The Rear Defogger Timer-Relay resets to 10 minutes when the Ignition Switch is turned OFF, then back to RUN. The timer also shuts off when the Rear Defogger Control Switch is pressed while the Rear Defogger is already on.
