Manual Parking Brakes

1. Adjust rear brakes as described under SERVICE BRAKES.
2. Apply and release park brake five times to 10 clicks and release park brake pedal.
3. Ensure park brake has been fully released by turning ignition on and ensuring brake warning light comes on then goes off. If brake light stays on, ensure park brake pedal is up all the way and released.
4. Apply park brake four clicks, then raise and support vehicle.
5. Remove access plug, Fig. 6.
6. Adjust park brake cable until a 1/8 inch drill bit can be inserted through access hole into space between shoe web and park brake lever. Satisfactory cable adjustment is achieved when a 1/8 inch drill will fit into space but a 1/4 inch drill will not.
7. Release park brake and ensure free wheel rotation.
8. Replace access plug and lower vehicle.
