1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Support rear axle under front side of spring seat.
3. If removing right side bushing, disconnect parking brake cable from hook guide.
4. Disconnect dual parking brake cables from bracket attachment and pull out of the way.
5. Insert a drift punch through the brake caliper and rotor as shown in Fig. 11.
6. Clean drive axle threads of all dirt and lubricant, then remove hub nut and washer.
7. Remove caliper bolts and support caliper.
8. Attach hub spindle removal tool No. J-28733 or equivalent and separate hub and drive axle as shown in Fig. 12.
9. Remove three hub and bearing retaining bolts, shield, hub and bearing assembly and O-ring, Fig. 13.
10. Using a punch, remove seal from steering knuckle by tapping it toward the engine. After seal is removed from the steering knuckle, remove seal from the drive axle using side cutters.
11. Reverse procedure to install. The factory seal was installed from the engine side of the steering knuckle. Ensure to install replacement seal from the wheel side of the steering knuckle.
