Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Converter Replacement:

REMOVAL:

1. Raise vehicle and support catalytic converter.
2. Cut front exhaust and intermediate pipes at the converter. Cut as close to welds as tool will permit.
3. Remove Converter.
4. Remove protions of the converter inlet/outlet remaining in the front exhaust and intermediate pipes.

INSTALLATION:

1. Install Converter. Position intermediate pipe for needed clearance during converter installation.

2. Install two Guillotine-type clamps and tighten nuts to 35 Nm (26 lb. ft.)
