Inner Tie Rod

1. Remove and dispose of lock plate from inner tie rod bolts, Fig. 13.
2. Remove inner tie rod bolt.
3. Slide out and remove inner tie rod between bolt support plate and rack and pinion boot. If both inner tie rods are to be removed, after removing the first tie rod, reinstall bolt to keep rack and pinion and other parts aligned.
4. Reverse procedure to install. Ensure center housing cover washers are fitted into rack and pinion boot. Torque inner tie rod bolts to 65 ft. lbs. and install new lock plate with notches in proper position over flats of inner tie rod bolts.
