Interior - Rattle From Front of Dash Area

Group Ref.: Chassis/Body Electrical

Bulletin No.: 338204

Date: October, 1993

SUBJECT:
RATTLE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE WHEN TRAVELING ON ROUGH ROAD CONDITIONS (BEND LH HORN BRACKET AWAY FROM FRONT BUMPER SUPPORT)

MODELS:
1993 BUICK SKYLARK
1993 OLDSMOBILE ACHIEVA
1993 PONTIAC GRAND AM

Condition:
Some owners may experience a rattle condition that occurs when going over bumps or on rough road conditions. The rattle may appear to come from the front-of-dash area.

Cause:
A small number of vehicles, (built from June 7th to June 15th), may have a condition where the left horn mounting bracket contacts the bumper support bracket while the vehicle is being driven over bumps or rough roads.

Correction:

Bend the LH horn bracket toward the rear of the vehicle to provide more clearance between the horn bracket and bumper support. This should be done carefully to avoid weakening of the horn bracket.
