Fuel Gauge Sender: Service and Repair

Fuel Sender Replacement:

Fuel Sender Assembly:

Remove or Disconnect
1. Relieve fuel system pressure.
2. Drain fuel tank.
3. Remove fuel tank.

Clean - all fuel pipes and hose connections and surrounding areas before disconnecting to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.

Disassemble - Using J24187/J24187-A or available tool J36608 remove fuel sender assembly retaining cam, fuel sender assembly and O-ring from fuel tank. Discard O-ring.

Clean - fuel sender assembly O-ring sealing surfaces

Assemble
1. Position new fuel sender assembly O-ring on fuel tank
2. Install fuel sender assembly and fuel sender assembly retainer cam using J24187/J24187-A or available tool J36608.

Install or Connect
1. Install fuel tank.
2. Add fuel, install filler cap.
3. Check for fuel leaks.
