SUBJECT:
DOOR MOUNTED SPEAKER BUZZ - INSTALL NEW SOUND DEADENER


MODELS/YEARS:
1992-93 EIGHTY EIGHT AND NINETY EIGHT



CONDITION:
Some 1992-93 Eighty Eight and Ninety Eight models with the six speaker sound system may exhibit a buzzing or rattling noise coming from the speaker(s) mounted in the lower front doors. This noise will most likely occur on AM talk shows or at higher levels of bass when listening to music.

CORRECTION:
1. Remove the door trim pad using the applicable service manual procedure.

2. Remove the speaker/housing assembly.





3. Apply the foam sound deadener P/N 12536298, which is currently available from GMSPO, to the pocket in the door water deflector directly behind where the speaker/housing assembly mounts. See the illustration.

4. Reinstall the speaker/housing assembly and assure the noise is corrected.

5. Reinstall the door trim pad.

6. Duplicate this procedure on the other front door to assure proper speaker balance.
