Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection

PROCEDURE:

1. Relieve fuel system pressure before fuel feed line disconnection, refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
2. Disconnect the fuel feed line at the engine, and connect a hose from the feed line to a suitable unbreakable container.
3. Apply battery voltage to the fuel pump test terminal (terminal "G" of ALDL).
4. The fuel pump should supply 1/2 pint or more of fuel in 15 seconds.
5. If flow is below minimum, check for fuel restrictions.
6. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS/FUEL SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS (CHART A-7), for further diagnosis of the electric fuel pump.
