Current diagnostic trouble codes can be read by using flash DTC or scan tool diagnostics. History diagnostic trouble code presence can be determined by using flash DTC diagnostics; however, the specific history diagnostic trouble code numbers can be read and cleared only by using scan tool diagnostics.
