Condition
Some owners may comment that the power sliding side door will not open when using the inside or outside handle, or the key chain transmitter (key FOB).
Cause
Interference between inner panel and outside door handle rod.
Correction
1. Remove power sliding side door trim panel.
2. See Figure 1 - Item 1 for interference. If interference is present, proceed to Step 3.
Important:
Removal of the handle rod is important in the following steps due to adjustment.
3. Remove outside handle rod. With the rod removed, create bend in rod as shown in Figure 1 - Item 2. Bend rod 5 mm (3/8 inch) at interference for clearance.
4. Insert rear side door outside handle rod through access hole in door inner panel.
5. Snap front end of handle rod into outside handle assembly.
6. Snap center of handle rod into rod guide.
7. Pull rod lightly rearward to remove all slack from system, insuring outside handle is centered.
8. Position threaded end into latch clip and snap clip closed to secure.
9. Check operation of the door.
10. Reinstall door trim.
