General Description

The remote lock control system is used to lock and unlock the vehicle's doors and Liftgate. The receiver is part of the Keyless Entry Module, installed behind the glove box. The transmitter, a hand-held item attached to a key ring, has two buttons that control the functions of the system.

The Keyless Entry Module is battery fed and is always monitoring. the transmitter signal. When the correct transmitter signal is received to lock all of the doors, a transistor driver will energize the driver's door lock and the lock control relay. The receiver will also control the unlocking of the driver's door or all doors.

The transmitter will transmit a radio signal to the receiver, which controls the functions of the Keyless Entry Module. The range is approximately 10 meters (33 feet).

LOCK INHIBIT FUNCTION

If the keys are in the Ignition ("OFF" position) and the driver's door is open, the operator will not be able to lock the doors with the Door Lock Switch.

COURTESY LIGHTING FUNCTIONS

Interior Courtesy Lights will illuminate if a remote unlock occurs. The lights will remain "ON" for 40 seconds or until a vehicle door opens. Anytime a vehicle door opens, the system waits for the doors to close. If one of the doors that was opened or closed was the driver's door, the Courtesy Lights will remain "ON" for 10 seconds or until the vehicle Ignition is turned "ON," after which the lights will slow "dim-to-off." If the Courtesy Lights are turned on from a switch other than the driver's door (I/P Switch or Other doors), the Courtesy Lights will immediately slow "dim-to-off."

LAST DOOR CLOSED LOCKS THE DOORS (LDCLD) DELAY LOCK FUNCTION

If the Lock Switch or the transmitter lock is activated with a vehicle door open, a chime will sound three times. The system will lock the doors five seconds after the last door is closed. A second depression of the Lock Switch or the transmitter lock will "override" the LDCLD function (i.e. lock all the doors). After an override, the system will still lock the doors five seconds after the last door is closed. Depressing the Unlock Switch while the LDCLD's feature is activated will cancel this feature.
