Cylinder Head Replacement - Right Side
Cylinder Head Torque:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Air cleaner and inlet hose.
3. Exhaust crossover.
4. Raise and support vehicle.
5. Exhaust manifold.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Alternator.
8. Rocker arm covers.
9. Intake manifold.
10. Loosen rocker arms until able to remove push rods.
11. Coil bracket.
12. Cylinder head bolts.
13. Cylinder head.
Clean
^ Gasket surfaces on the head, cylinder block and intake manifold.
^ Cylinder block bolt threads.
^ Cylinder head bolts.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Place the gasket in position over the dowel pins, with the note, "This Side Up" showing.
2. Cylinder head.
3. Coat the cylinder head bolt threads with GM P/N 1052080 sealer or equivalent and install bolts.
a. Tighten all bolts in sequence to 55 Nm (41 lb ft).
b. Tighten all bolts in sequence an additional 90 degrees.
4. Coil bracket.
5. Intake gasket.
6. Push rods, making sure lower ends of push rods are in lifter seats.
7. Rocker arms and adjust valve lash Adjustments
8. Intake manifold.
9. Rocker arm cover.
10. Alternator.
11. Raise and support vehicle.
12. Exhaust manifold.
13. Exhaust pipe.
14. Lower vehicle.
15. Crossover pipe.
16. Air cleaner and inlet pipe.
17. Negative battery.
