Cylinder Head Removal

Disassembled Upper Engine:

Legend:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Heater inlet and throttle body heater hoses (2) from water outlet.
4. Exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold.
5. Camshaft housing.
6. Fill tube bolt/screw.
7. Oil fill cap and level indicator assembly.
8. Pull oil fill tube upward to unseat from block.
9. Injector harness electrical connector.
10. Remove fill tube out top rotating as necessary to gain clearance for oil/air separator nipple between intake manifold tubes.
11. Throttle body to air cleaner duct.
12. Power brake vacuum hose from throttle body.

Throttle Cable Bracket:

13. Throttle cable bracket.
14. Throttle body from intake manifold, with electrical harness, and throttle cable attached. Position it aside.
15. MAP sensor vacuum hose from intake manifold.
16. Intake manifold brace.
17. 18. Electrical connections from:
- MAP sensor.
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor.
- Purge solenoid.
18. Radiator inlet (upper) hose from water outlet.
19. Coolant temperature sensor connectors (2).

Cylinder Head Bolt Tightening Sequence:

NOTE: Follow reverse of tightening sequence.

20. Cylinder head to block bolts.
21. Cylinder head and gasket.
