Mirrors: Description and Operation
CIRCUIT OPERATIONEach Outside Mirror has two reversible motors. One adjusts the mirror view up and down and the other adjusts the mirror view right and left, The driver operates four switches that control the polarity of the voltage to the motors, The Mirror Select Switch directs the voltage to either the RH or LH Outside Mirror.
When the LH Outside Mirror is selected and the "UP" position of the switch is pressed, battery voltage from CKT 1140 wire is applied to CKT 82 and the Up/Down Motor in the LH Outside Mirror. The Power Mirror Switch has a path to ground through CKT 81, the Up contacts of the switch and CKT 1850. The LH Motor runs and turns the mirror up.
If the Mirror Control Switch is pressed in the "DOWN" position, the same motor receives voltage from CKT 81, while the CKT 82 is grounded. The motor runs in the opposite direction.
The Left/Right Motor operates in a similar manner. When the "L" Switch is pressed, CKT 88 receives battery voltage and CKT 89 is grounded through the switch. The motor runs and moves the mirror left. When the "H" Switch is pressed, the motor receives battery voltage through CKT 89 and ground through the CKT 88. The motor runs in the opposite direction to move the mirror right.
The RH Outside Mirror works the same way as the LH Outside Mirror when the Mirror Select Switch is moved to the "RH" position and the appropriate position switch is operated.
