Brake Light Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE AND OPERATION

The brake switch is a normally closed switch that provides a constant voltage signal to a terminal of the PCM. When the brake pedal is depressed, the switch opens and the signal is interrupted, indicating to the PCM that the brakes are applied. The PCM responds by turning "OFF" the torque converter clutch and the cruise control.
