Test L: Tachometer Test

1. Electronic Ignition (EI) Module
Connector: DISCONNECTED.

2. Plug J 33431 I/P Tester into a wall outlet.

3. Connect J 33431-10 harness adapter to I/P Tester.

4. Connect J 33431-10 adapter black lead to ground and connect red lead to EI Module Connector terminal E (WHT).

5. Set J 33431 I/P Tester to 54 mph, 60 Hz and Power Switch to ON.

6. Ignition Switch: RUN.

^ If Tachometer shows 1350 rpm, check EI Module Connector for proper terminal contact; if OK, replace EI Module (refer to Powertrain Management).

^ If Tachometer does not operate, check WHT (121) wiring for an open or short to ground; check in-line Connectors C108 (terminal E), C260 (terminal J7) and Instrument Cluster Connector C2 (terminal E8) for proper terminal contact; if all OK, replace Instrument Cluster.
