Circuit Operation

Battery voltage is applied through the Rear Fuse Block HDLP CB at all times. The circuit breaker opens when the headlamp circuit draws too much current. When the circuit breaker opens it interrupts the current flow. With no current flow, the circuit breaker cools and resets automatically. With the Head/Park Lamp Switch in "HEAD," the switch directs voltage to either the LO Beams or HI Beams. The HI Beam Indicator also receives voltage along with the HI Beams.

Fog Lamps (Oldsmobile Only)
With the Head/Park Lamp Switch in "HEAD" or "PARK" and the Fog Lamp Switch "ON," voltage is applied to the Fog Lamp Enable Relay Coil. The coil is grounded through the Fog Lamp Disable Relay. With the Fog Lamp Enable Relay energized, its contacts close, applying voltage to the Fog Lamps. If the headlamps are switched to HI beam, voltage is applied to the Fog Lamp Disable Relay Coil, energizing the coil. This removes the ground from the Fog Lamp Enable Relay Coil, de-energizing the Fog Lamp Enable Relay. The Fog Lamp Enable Relay contacts open, removing voltage from the Fog Lamps.
