Manual Downshifts

The shift solenoids do not control the initial downshift during manual downshifts; all manual downshifts are hydraulic. The solenoid states will change during, or shortly after manually downshifting.

1. At vehicle speeds of 40-55 mph in 4th gear, release accelerator while moving shifter to D3. Observe that TCC releases TCC output changes from On to Off and transaxle downshifts to 3rd gear immediately.

2. Shift back to D4 and accelerate to 40 - 45 mph. Release accelerator while moving shifter to D2 and observe that TCC releases TCC output changes from On to Off, transaxle downshifts to 2nd gear immediately and engine slows vehicle down.

3. Shift back to D4 and accelerate to 30 mph. Release accelerator while moving shifter to D1 and observe that TCC releases TCC output changes from On to Off, transaxle downshifts to 2nd gear to 1st gear immediately and engine slows vehicle down.
