Fuel Tank Draining Procedure

WARNING: Never drain or store fuel in an open container due to the possibility of fire or explosion.











1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Loosen fuel filler cap.
3. Block front tires.
4. Raise rear of vehicle so that bottom of rear bumper is 71 cm (28 in.) above ground.
5. Loosen fuel filler pipe connecting hose clamp at tank.

Clean
Clean fuel filler pipe at tank and surrounding area before disconnecting to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.

6. Wrap a shop towel around fuel filler pipe connecting hose and slowly remove fuel filler pipe connecting hose from fuel tank.
7. Use a hand operated pump device to drain fuel.
8. Reconnect fuel filler pipe connecting hose and clamp.

Tighten
- Fuel filler pipe hose clamp to 2.5 Nm (22 lb. in.).
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Unblock front tires.
11. Reconnect negative battery cable and tighten fuel filler cap after required service(s) has been completed.
