Engine Removal and Installation

Remove or Disconnect
1. Air cleaner assembly.
2. Hood with assistant.
3. Drain coolant.
4. Coolant recovery reservoir.
5. Heater hoses from engine.
6. Engine torque strut bracket and strut.
7. Cooling fans.
8. Radiator hoses from engine.
9. Transaxle cooler lines.
10. Radiator and hoses.
11. Control cables from bracket and throttle body.
12. Fuel lines.
13. Exhaust crossover.
14. Ground straps to bell housing.
15. Fuel injector cover.
16. Power steering lines at pump and front cover.
17. Serpentine drive belt.
18. Upper A/C compressor bolts.
19. Electrical connector to A/C compressor.
20. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
21. Right front tire and wheel assembly.
22. Right front splash shield.
23. Lower A/C compressor bolts and reposition compressor.
24. Flywheel inspection covers.
25. Engine oil filter.
26. Starter.
27. Front exhaust pipe and converter.
28. Motor mount nuts from frame. Refer to "Engine Mounts".
29. Electrical connections from rear of engine.
30. Torque converter bolts.
31. Electrical connections from front of engine.
32. Right ball joint nut and separate from control arm.
33. Outer tie rod.
34. Drive axle assembly.
35. Transaxle shield.
36. Suitably support transaxle with jacking fixture.
37. Motor mount bracket to transaxle bolts and nuts.
38. Transaxle support.
39. Lower vehicle.
40. Plastic cover from shock tower.
41. Electrical quick connectors from ECM.
42. Necessary vacuum lines.
43. Support transaxle.
44. Install engine lifting device.
45. Engine assembly.

^ Disconnect electrical connectors from generator.

Install or Connect
1. Engine assembly.

^ Connect electrical connectors to generator.

2. Engine lifting device.
3. Support from transaxle.
4. Bell housing bolts.
5. Necessary vacuum lines.
6. Electrical quick connects near ECM.
7. Plastic cover to shock tower.
8. Raise vehicle.
9. Suitably support transaxle with jacking fixture.
10. Motor mount bracket to transaxle nuts and bolts.
11. Remove transaxle support.
12. Transaxle shield.
13. Drive axle assembly.
14. Ball joint into control arm and install nut.
15. Outer tie rod.
16. Electrical connections to front of engine.
17. Torque converter bolts.
18. Electrical connections to rear of engine.
19. Motor mount nuts at frame. Refer to "Engine Mounts".
20. Front exhaust pipe and converter.
21. Starter motor.
22. Flywheel inspection covers.
23. Position A/C compressor to bracket.
24. Lower bolts to A/C compressor.
25. New oil filter.
26. Right front splash shield.
27. Right front tire and wheel assembly.
28. Lower vehicle.
29. Electrical connector to A/C compressor.
30. Upper A/C compressor bolts.
31. Serpentine drive belt. Refer to "Serpentine Drive Belt".
32. Power steering lines at pump and front cover.
33. Fuel injector cover.
34. Ground straps to bell housing.
35. Exhaust crossover.
36. Fuel lines.
37. Control cables to bracket and throttle body.
39. Transaxle cooler lines.
40. Radiator hoses to engine.
41. Cooling fans.
42. Engine torque strut bracket and strut.
43. Heater hoses to engine.
44. Coolant recovery reservoir.
45. Refill engine oil.
46. Refill cooling system.
47. Refill power steering fluid.
48. Check and fill transaxle fluid.
49. Hood with assistant.
50. Air cleaner assembly.

Adjust

^ Fluid levels as needed.

^ Bleed power steering system.
