System Description
The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System allows the driver to operate the vehicle Door Locks, Illuminated Entry Lights and Rear Compartment Lid Release from outside the vehicle using a hand held Radio Transmitter. The Transmitter operates in the UHF band; it sends digitally coded signals to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver. The Remote Control Door Lock Receiver detects and decodes the signals and issues signals to control the Door Locks and Rear Compartment Lid Release. These systems can also be operated in the usual manner; for instance, the Door Locks will respond to the Door Lock Switches.Lock
When the "DOOR" Button is pressed on the Transmitter and the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver receives a signal with a valid Vehicle Access Code (VAC), the Lock function sequence is performed. The Remote Control Door Lock Receiver will lock all doors. The Headlamp Switch receives a Lock Signal through CKT 49, arid turns the Courtesy Lamps "ON" for 2 seconds to indicate the doors have been locked.
The Remote Control Door Lock Receiver supplies battery voltage to the coil of the Door Lock Relay. The Door Lock Relay is energized, and battery voltage is supplied to the Door Lock Actuators. Ground for the LH Door Lock Actuator is provided at Remote Control Door Lock Receiver CKT 694 through internal contacts. Ground for the other Door Lock Actuator(s) is provided through the contacts of the Unlock Relay of the Door Lock Relay. All Door Lock Actuators run to lock all doors.
Unlock
The Unlock function is separated into two operations depending on how the "UNLOCK" Button is pressed on the Transmitter. If the "UNLOCK" Button is pressed once, only the LH Door is unlocked. If the "UNLOCK" Button is pressed twice within 5 seconds, all doors will be unlocked.
When the Unlock Button is pressed once on the Transmitter and the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver receives a signal with a valid VAC. the Unlock function sequence is performed. The Remote Control Door Lock Receiver will supply battery voltage to the LH Door Lock Actuator through CKT 694. The motor is grounded through the contacts of the Door Lock Relay in the Door Lock Relay. The LH Door Lock Actuator runs to unlock the LH door.
If the "UNLOCK" Button on the Transmitter is pressed twice to unlock all doors, the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver will activate the Door Unlock output at CKT 194. The Remote Control Door Lock Receiver will then supply battery voltage to the coil of the Unlock Relay in the Door Lock Relay. The Unlock Relay is energized and closes its contacts. Battery voltage is supplied to all Door Lock Actuators except the LH Front. The actuators are grounded through the contacts of the Door Lock Relay in the Door Lock Relay. The actuators run to unlock the doors.
Illuminated Entry
When the Unlock function is used, the Headlamp Switch receives an Unlock Signal through CKT 49 from the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver, and lights the Courtesy Lamps for approximately 40 seconds, or until the Ignition Switch is turned to "RUN."
Rear Compartment Lid Release
When the Rear Compartment Lid Release Button is pressed on the Transmitter and the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver receives a signal with a valid VAC, the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver will supply battery voltage to CKT 1576. This battery voltage is then applied to the Rear Compartment Lid Release Solenoid. The Rear Compartment Lid Release Solenoid is energized and the Rear Compartment Lid can be opened. If the Ignition Switch is "ON" and the Transaxle Range or Park/Neutral Position Switch is not in "PARK," battery voltage is not supplied to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver CKT 275 and the Rear Compartment Lid will not open.
