Hub & Bearing
FRONT HUB/BEARINGFig. 1 Hub & Bearing Assembly Removal.:
1. Remove wheel cover, then loosen drive axle shaft nut and washer one turn. Do not remove nut at this time. Failure to follow proper removal sequence may cause bearing damage.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove brake caliper and bracket assembly, then the brake rotor, Fig. 1 .
4. Remove drive axle shaft nut and washer.
5. Loosen hub and bearing assembly to knuckle attaching bolts.
6. Using front hub spindle remover tool No. J-28733-A, or equivalent, push axle splines back out of hub and bearing assembly.
7. Remove hub and bearing assembly to knuckle attaching bolts.
8. On models equipped with ABS, remove ABS sensor mounting bolt and position sensor aside.
9. On all models, remove hub and bearing assembly. Protect axle boots from damage during handling.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten all bolts to specifications. For 1995-96, tighten the axle shaft nut to 151 Ft. Lbs., for 1994 use the image above.
