Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then the positive battery cable.
2. Remove intake manifold. Refer to Engine / Intake Manifold. Service and Repair
3. Disconnect electrical connectors from starter solenoid "S and battery terminals.
4. Remove starter mounting bolts, then the starter.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque inner nuts on the solenoid terminals to 70 inch lbs.
b. Torque "S" terminal nut to 20 inch lbs.
c. Torque battery terminal nut to 70 inch lbs.
d. Torque starter mounting bolts to 22 ft. lbs.
