Ignition Cable: Service and Repair
Description:
When replacing spark plug wires, the channel or conduit must be removed to service any wire. The wires must be correctly routed and placed in the proper retainers. Failure to route the wires properly can lead to radio ignition noise, plugs crossfiring or leads shorting to ground.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Ignition "OFF."
2. Engine Cover.
3. Secondary ignition wires from ignition coils.
CAUTION: Use care when removing spark plug boots from the spark plugs. Twist the boot 1/2 turn before removing and pull on the boot only to remove it. Do NOT pull on the wire as this may damage the secondary ignition wire.
4. Spark plugs wires from channel on intake manifold.
5. Spark plug wires from spark plugs.
6. Complete spark plug wire assembly from vehicle.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Position spark plug wire assembly to the top of the engine.
2. Spark plug wire assembly onto intake manifold.
3. Spark plug wires to spark plugs.
NOTE: Make sure that the spark plug boots are fully seated.
4. Spark plug wires to ignition coils.
5. Engine Cover.
