Cruise Control Servo Cable: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Cruise control cable locator clip from the outboard rectangular hole in the routing bracket at the left front corner of the engine.
2. Cruise control cable conduit fitting from the round hole in the engine cable bracket.
3. Cruise control cable engine-end fitting from the nail-head stud on the throttle lever.
4. Cruise control cable fitting from the cruise control module.
5. Cruise control cable bead from the fitting on the cruise control module ribbon.
6. Cruise control cable from the vehicle.
^ Open the splash shield cover to remove the cable from the vehicle.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Remove and discard the plastic cable retainer.
2. Cruise control cable bead to the fitting on the cruise control module ribbon.
3. Pull the cruise control cable until the cable is taut.
4. If necessary, turn the cruise control cable at the engine-end fitting to straighten the cruise control module ribbon. The ribbon must be flat and vertical.
5. Slide the cruise control cable conduit over the ribbon and install the tanks to the cruise control module housing.
^ Make sure the tanks snap securely into place.
6. Snap the cruise control cable engine-end fitting over the nail head stud on the throttle lever.
7. Cruise control cable conduit fitting to the round hole in the engine cable bracket.
^ Make sure the tabs snap securely into the hole.
8. Cruise control cable locator clip to the outboard rectangular hole in the routing bracket at the left front corner of the engine.
^ The cruise control cable must route above the accelerator cable.
^ Make sure the clip snaps securely into place.
9. Push the cable adjuster plunger into the locked position, so that the white paint area is no longer visible.
^ The lash should be automatically set at 0.0 to 1.0 mm (0.0 to 0.04 inch) by the adjuster. If an is required, refer to "Cruise Control Cable Adjustment".
10. Close the splash shield cover.

Important: Secure all components of the accelerator and cruise control cables as specified. The throttle linkage must operate freely without binding between the idle position and wide open throttle.
