Wiper Arm: Service and Repair

Remove or Disconnect
1. With wipers operating, turn ignition off when wiper arm assembly (9) is at mid-wipe position.
2. Lift wiper blade assembly (10) from windshield and disengage retaining latch (F) with screwdriver.
3. Wiper Arm assembly (9) from transmission drive shaft (G).
4. Wiper blade assembly (10) from wiper arm assembly (9), if required.

Install or Connect
1. Wiper blade assembly (10), if removed.
2. With ignition in "ACCY," turn wiper/washer switch assembly to "LO" and then to "OFF" to return transmission assembly to park position.
3. Position wiper arm assembly (9) slightly below the stop surface of park ramp (D), then press arm head casting (H) fully onto transmission drive shaft (G).
4. Push arm retaining latch (F) in.
5. Lift replaced wiper arm assembly (9) over park ramp D.

Inspect
^ Wipe pattern. Dimension A should be 35-114 mm (1-3/8-4-1/2 in.) from top of drivers blade assembly on outwipe to edge of molding.
^ Park position. Both wiper arms must be against park ramps.
^ The correct park position and outwipe dimension are determined with the wipers operating at low speed on wet glass.
