Accessory Delay Module: Description and Operation

Retained Accessory Power (RAP) allows the radio, power windows and sunroof to be operated for approximately 10 minutes after turning the ignition switch to the OFF position.

Battery voltage is applied at all times from the I/P Junction Block RAC/TRUNK REL FUSE 2 to the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) Module, and from RH MaxiFuse(R) Block IGN SW FUSE. When the ignition switch is turned to ACCY or RUN, voltage is applied from I/P Fuse Block WPR/WSHR FUSE 8E to the RFA Module. When the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position, the RFA module senses this and energizes the RAP relay by grounding RAP relay terminal 86. With the RAP relay energized, battery voltage from RH MaxiFuse(R) Block IGN SW FUSE is applied to power the radio. The radio operates for approximately 10 minutes or until any door is opened. If any door is opened, the RFA module deenergizes the RAP relay by removing the ground source from RAP Relay terminal 86, thus discontinuing power to the radio. The 10 minute time interval can be reset by turning the ignition switch to from the RUN position, then to the OFF position.
