Stationary Window Waterleak Repair

Tools Required
^ Adhesive kit GM P/N 12346284
^ Air hose
^ Water hose without a nozzle

Stationary Window Waterleak Repair:




1. Remove the window garnish moldings if the area of the leak is hidden.
2. Remove any auxiliary seals or reveal moldings if necessary to uncover the urethane seal.
3. Apply a small stream of water while carefully pushing outward on the window in the area of the leak.
4. Mark the extent of the leak area.

5. Using a sharp knife, trim off any uneven edge of urethane material at the leak point and 75-100 mm (3-4 in) on each side of the leak point.
6. Using water clean away any dirt from the leak area.
7. Using an air hose, dry the leak area.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT apply primer to existing urethane.

8. Apply primer if necessary.
^ If the urethane is not bonding to the glass, clean the surface of the glass, then prime the clean glass surface with black primer #2.
^ If the urethane is not bonding to the pinch weld, clean the surface of the pinch weld, then prime the bare pinch weld with black primer #3.

9. Apply new urethane to the repair area.
10. Using a flat-bladed tool, work the urethane into the repair area.
11. Water test the original leak area.
12. Continue to work the adhesive into the leak area or apply additional adhesive as needed.
13. Install any auxiliary seals or reveal moldings if removed to uncover the urethane seal.
14. Install the window garnish moldings if removed to access the leak area.
