Steering Wheel Control Switch

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





Service the steering wheel control switches and connector as an assembly. Service the horn ground and contact lead as an assembly.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Infl Rst Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
3. Remove the 4 screws (9).
4. Remove the inflator module support plate.
5. Remove the 2 screws (14) on each side, securing the steering wheel control switches (4) to the support plate.

IMPORTANT: Note the wire routing for assembly reference.

6. Remove the steering wheel control switch assembly.
7. Disconnect the lead (5) from the inflator module (3) in order to remove the horn ground lead (5).
8. Disconnect the lead (6) from the inflator module (3) in order to remove the contact lead (6).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the steering wheel control switch assembly (4) by routing the wires and securing to the support plate with 2 screws (14) on each side.
2. Install the inflator module support plate.
3. Install the 4 screws (9).
4. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Infl Rst Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
