Door Window Adjustment

Causes of Slow Moving Glass

Caution: Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver door. When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

1. Listed below are four conditions that may cause a window to operate slowly:

* The window run channel outboard lip at the rearview mirror is rolled over or the glass run channel outboard lip at the center pillar is rolled over.
* The window run channel is not seated at the center pillar.
* The window is misaligned in the opening.
* The regulator is misaligned causing misalignment of the window.

2. Use the following adjustment procedures in order to correct the condition causing a window to operate slowly.

Adjustment Procedure

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Service and Repair or Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Service and Repair.
2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement Service and Repair or Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair).




3. Condition 1.1: Using a flat-bladed tool, straighten the run channel lip (2) by pulling the lip out to its correct position.
4. Condition 1.2: Using a flat-bladed tool push the run channel rearward seating the channel in the door frame.




5. Condition 1.3: Loosen the window-to-window regulator bolts.
Rotate the cam (5) on the window regulator plate so that the slot (6) is straight up and down. In this position, the back of the window will tilt forward.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

6. Tighten the window to regulator bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

7. Condition 1.4: Loosen the window-to-regulator bolts (1, 2).
8. Loosen the four window regulator to door bolts.
9. Align the window regulator.




10. Tighten the bolts which secure the window regulator to the door according to the tightening sequence: 1, 2, 3, 4.

Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




11. Tighten the regulator motor to door bolts (1, 2) which secure the window-to-window regulator to the window.

Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

12. Connect the power window switch.
13. Test the power window for proper operation.
14. Install the door water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement Service and Repair or Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair).
15. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Service and Repair or Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Service and Repair
