EGR Valve: Service and Repair
EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
IMPORTANT: Note the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve facing before removing the EGR valve.
2. Disconnect the EGR valve harness connector.
3. Remove the EGR valve flange bolts.
4. Remove the EGR valve and the gasket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Ensure the EGR valve is oriented in the proper direction.
1. Install the new flange gasket.
2. Install the EGR valve.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Insert the flange bolts through the EGR valve and gasket into the mounting holes.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in), and then tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
4. Connect the EGR valve harness connector.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
