Linear Shift
Removal Procedure1. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement-On Vehicle.
2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement.
3. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
4. Place the steering column lock cylinder set in the OFF-LOCK position.
5. Insert a small flat-blade tool into the slot on the electronic lock module assembly and push against the locking tab in order to remove the tab.
6. Disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock control connector from the park position switch assembly.
7. Slide the park position switch assembly off of the linear shift assembly.
8. Remove the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column.
9. Use a small flat-blade tool in order to pry the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column jacket assembly.
10. Remove the 3 screws from the linear shift assembly.
11. Remove the linear shift assembly from the steering column support assembly.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the linear shift assembly onto the steering column support assembly.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Secure the linear shift assembly to the steering column assembly with the 3 screws.
- Tighten the 3 screws to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
3. Install the automatic transmission shift lock control.
4. Install the shift lever clevis and put the column in the NEUTRAL position, which is 2 positions from the PARK position.
5. Slide the park position switch assembly onto the linear shift assembly.
6. Connect the automatic transmission shift lock control connector to the park position switch assembly.
7. Connect the park lock cable assembly (1) to the electronic lock module assembly in the following way:
7.1. Place the steering column lock cylinder set into the OFF position.
7.2. Place the shift lever clevis into the PARK position.
7.3. Press the locking tab on the end of the park lock cable assembly (1) into the slot in the electronic lock module assembly.
8. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement.
9. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement-On Vehicle.
