Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair
AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
3. Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.
4. Disconnect the breather tube from the air intake duct.
5. Loosen the two air intake duct clamps and remove the air intake duct.
6. Remove the air cleaner assembly retainer screws.
7. Remove the air cleaner assembly from the vehicle.
8. Separate the mass air flow (MAF) sensor from the air filter element cover.
9. Remove the air cleaner element retaining screws and remove the cover.
10. Remove the air cleaner element. Inspect the air cleaner element and replace if necessary.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the air cleaner element in the air cleaner assembly.
2. Position the air cleaner cover on the air cleaner assembly.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the air cleaner retainer screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 6 N.m (40 lb in).
4. Install the MAF sensor to the air cleaner cover.
5. Place the air cleaner assembly in the vehicle.
6. Install the air cleaner assembly retainer screws.
Tighten
Tighten the air cleaner housing nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
7. Install the air intake duct.
8. Tighten the two air intake duct clamps.
9. Connect the breather tube to the air intake duct.
10. Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector.
11. Connect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
