SCAN TOOL DATA DEFINITIONS

IPC Scan Tool Data Definitions
The IPC scan tool data definitions contains a brief description of all IPC related parameters available on the scan tool.

8-Digit GM Part Number: The scan tool displays the GM eight digit part number of the IPC.

Antilock Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the ABS indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Battery Voltage: The scan tool displays 0-25.5 volts. The voltage measured at the battery positive voltage circuit of the IPC.

Battery Voltage: The scan tool displays 0-25.5 volts. The voltage measured at the battery positive voltage circuit of the DIC.

Brake Fluid Level: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The IPC monitors the brake fluid level switch signal circuit, A closed switch is displayed as Low.

Coolant Level: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The IPC monitors the coolant level switch signal circuit, A closed switch is displayed as Low.

Driver Door Ajar Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DDM monitors the signal circuit of the driver door ajar switch. A closed switch is displayed as OFF.

ECT Sensor: The scan tool displays -40°C (-40°F) to 140°C (284°F). The PCM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the engine coolant temperature sensor.

Engine Oil Level Switch: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch. A open switch is displayed as Low.

Engine Oil Life Remaining: The scan tool displays 0-100%. The PCM calculates and sends the correct oil life data to the IPC.

Engine Oil Pressure Sensor (LX5): The scan tool displays 0-19 V. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil pressure sensor.

Engine Oil Pressure (L47) - Switch: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil pressure switch.

Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0-9999 RPM. Engine speed is computed by the PCM from the 3X reference input.

Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0-9999 RPM. The IPC monitors the engine speed signal circuit from the PCM.

Fuel Level (LX5): The scan tool displays 0-100%. The PCM calculates the amount of fuel remaining in the tank based on the fuel level signal circuit.

Fuel Level (L47): The scan tool displays 7.6 L-70 L. The PCM calculates the amount of fuel remaining in the tank based on the fuel level signal circuit.

Fuel Level Sensor: The scan tool displays 0-5 V. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the fuel level sensor.

Ignition 1: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the ignition 1 circuit.

Ignition 3: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the ignition 3 circuit.

Ignition Counter: The scan tool displays 0-50. The DIC counts the number of times the ignition is cycled.

Julian Date Of Build: The scan tool displays year and day. The first digit indicates the last digit of the year that the control module was built. The remaining 3 digits indicate the day of the year that the control module was built.

Key In Ignition: The scan tool displays Yes/No. The instrument panel module (IPM) monitors the ignition key alarm switch. A closed switch is displayed as Yes (key in ignition).

Left Rear Door Ajar Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DDM monitors the signal circuit of the left rear door ajar switch. A closed switch is displayed as OFF.

Lt Turning Signal Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the left turn signal supply voltage circuit. A active turn signal toggles between On and Off.

Odometer (L47): The scan tool displays kilometers miles). The IPC determines the distance traveled based on the vehicle speed sensor signal and sends the information to the PCM via class 2.

On/Off Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the signal circuit of the On/Off switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Park Brake Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the signal circuit of the park brake switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Park Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The dash integration module (DIM) monitors the park lamp switch.

Passenger Door Ajar Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the passenger door ajar switch.

PROM ID: The scan tool displays the 4 digit number that identifies the PROM of the module.

Reset Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the signal circuit of the RESET switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Right Rear Door Ajar Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DDM monitors the signal circuit of right rear ajar switch. A closed switch is displayed as Off.

Rt Turning Signal Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the right turn signal supply voltage circuit. A active turn signal toggles between On and Off.

Select Down: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the signal circuit of the Select Down switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Select Right: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the signal circuit of the Select Right switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Serial Number: The scan tool displays the 4 digit serial number of the module.

Trip Odometer A/B Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the signal circuit of the trip odometer A/B switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Trip Reset Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The DIC monitors the signal circuit of the trip reset switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Vehicle Speed: The scan tool displays 0-255 km/h (0-155 mph). The IPC monitors the vehicle speed circuit from the PCM.

Vehicle Speed: The scan tool displays 0-255 km/h (0-155 mph). The PCM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the vehicle speed sensor. The voltage is proportional to vehicle speed.

Washer Fluid Level: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the signal circuit of the windshield washer fluid level switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Year Module Built: The scan tool displays the 4 digit number which corresponds to the year that the module was manufactured.
