Receiver Replacement - Digital Radio

RECEIVER REPLACEMENT - DIGITAL RADIO

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the I/P insulator.

IMPORTANT: Do not exchange digital radio receivers between vehicles. Exchanging digital receivers between vehicles will activate the digital radio theftlock."XM theftlock" will be displayed.




2. Remove the receiver bracket nuts.
3. Remove the receiver from the bracket.
4. Disengage the electrical connector and the antenna connectors from the XM radio receiver.




5. Remove the XM digital radio receiver from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the XM digital radio receiver to the receiver bracket.
2. Install the radio receiver nuts.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 4 N.m (35 lb in).




3. Connect the electrical connector and the antenna connectors to the XM radio receiver.




4. Install the I/P insulator.
5. Perform the setup procedure for the digital radio receiver.Refer to Digital Radio Receiver Setup.
6. Turn the radio on, tune to the XM channel 0, and record the electronic serial number (ESN) from the radio.
The ESN will be needed for activation of the new receiver.

IMPORTANT: After replacement of an XM Radio receiver, call XM Radio to deactivate the receiver that has been removed from the vehicle and activate the new XM Radio receiver.
The vehicle must be parked in view of a satellite within 24 hours after an activation call.

7. Call XM Radio at 1-800-852-XMXM (9696) to deactivate the faulty receiver and activate the new receiver.
8. Park the vehicle outside in an area with an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
9. Leave the vehicle outside with the ignition switch in the ACC (accessory) position and the radio on for 30 minutes to activate XM service.
10. Once activated the radio will receive the remaining XM Radio channels.
