Cable Tension Adjustment - Sliding Door (With RPO E59)

Perform the following steps in order to detension the left power sliding door:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.




2. Position the door so that the release tab (1) on the take-up guide is visible in the take up guide window.




3. Insert a #2 flat-bladed screwdriver into the take-up guide window against the outer side of the take-up guide release tab.
4. Pry the take-up guide inward approximately 2 mm (1/16 in) in order to disengage the teeth of the take-up guide and drum.
5. While holding the take-up guide inward, pull the door in the open direction to release the cable tension.
6. Remove the #2 flat-bladed screwdriver from the take-up guide window.




7. Position the door so that the slot (1) in the take-up guide is visible in the take-up guide window.


Perform the following steps in order to tension the left power sliding door:


Important: Do Not insert the screwdriver more than 5 mm (1/4 in) into the slot in the take-up guide window or damage to the teeth may occur.






1. Insert a #2 flat-bladed screwdriver into the take up guide slot.
2. Position the door to the closed position approximately 20 to 25 mm (1 in) in order to seat the #2 flat-bladed screwdriver in the take-up guide slot (1) and take-up window.




3. While holding the take-up guide (1) in place, turn the hex nut (2) clockwise to tension the cable.




4. While turning the hex nut, observe the position of the front pulley in the viewing slot (1), when the center hub of the pulley is in line with the white indicator on the viewing slot, the cable is properly tensioned.
5. Remove the #2 flat-bladed screwdriver from the take-up guide window
