Service Recommendations - For Severe Conditions

87peugeot03

BULLETIN NO. 232

DATE: April, 1987
SUBJECT: SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR XN6 VEHICLES OPERATING UNDER SEVERE CONDITIONS

INFORMATION

On XN6 engines, complaints of oil leak between the timing cover and crankshaft pulley on high mileage vehicles can in some cases be attributed to partial blockage of the positive crank-case ventilation system. (Build-up of condensation moisture)

This problem may occur on vehicles which are operated under severe climatic and driving conditions (i.e. high humidity, extreme cold weather and repeated short distance driving).

SERVICE PRECAUTIONS

Extensive short distance stop-and-go driving:

- Change oil and filter at half the recommended intervals

- Periodically inspect and if necessary clean:
^ the oil trap (1) in P.C.V. recirculation tube (left side of engine block)

^ the 1.2 mm diameter calibrated orifice (4) (fitting in intake manifold)

^ check condition and routing on P.C.V. hoses
