Fig. 5 Engine Controller 60-Way Connector, Shown From Terminal End:

1. Disconnect 60-way connector from engine controller, located next to battery.
2. Connect negative lead of voltmeter to ground, then turn ignition switch to the On position.
3. Place positive lead of voltmeter to cavity of terminal 53. With the speed control switch in the Off position, voltmeter should indicate zero volts. With speed control switch in the On position, voltmeter should indicate battery voltage. If not, repair main harness as necessary.
4. Place positive lead of voltmeter to cavity of terminal 60.
5. With the speed control switch in the Off position, voltmeter should indicate zero volts. With speed control switch in the On position, voltmeter should indicate battery voltage.
6. Place positive lead of voltmeter to cavity of terminal 9.
7. With the speed control switch in the Off position, voltmeter should indicate zero volts. With speed control switch in the On position, voltmeter should indicate battery voltage.
8. Press the Set button. This should cause the voltmeter to switch from indicating battery voltage to zero volts for as long as the switch is held. If not, perform "Speed Control Switch Test." If the switch is satisfactory, check main harness and repair as necessary.
9. Place positive lead of voltmeter to cavity of terminal 7. With the speed control switch in the On or Off position, voltmeter should indicate zero volts.
10. With speed control switch in the Resume or Set positions, voltmeter should indicate battery voltage. If not, perform "Speed Control Switch Test." If switch is satisfactory, check main harness and repair as necessary.
11. Place positive lead of voltmeter to cavity of terminal 8. With the speed control switch in the Off position, voltmeter should indicate zero volts.
12. With speed control switch in the On position, voltmeter should indicate battery voltage. Voltmeter will continue to read battery voltage, when the Resume or Set switch is pressed. If not, perform "Speed Control Switch Test."
13. If the switch is satisfactory, check main harness and repair as necessary.
14. On all models, using an ohmmeter, connect one lead to body ground, then the cavity of terminal 29.
15. With the brake pedal released, the meter should indicate continuity. When pedal is depressed, the meter should indicate an open circuit.
16. On 1991 models, touch one lead of ohmmeter to a good body ground and the other lead to terminal 30.
17. With transmission in D, meter should show continuity. When in P or N, meter should not show continuity.
18. If above results are not measured, test neutral start and back-up switch using DRB II.
